This film adaptation was nothing like the book although I hated the book, I still would have liked it a little better than this anti climactic plot. The filming was good and the acting was great (even though you can't understand Chris Pine 90% of the time) but the plot failed to entertain me in any way.

This is thinkers movie, ...you might find yourself sitting there pondering meaning while the credits are rolling. Its a study of human nature isolated from a larger civilization. However it does insinuate that the only character with a moral compass also does not believe in god. Which is humanist and atheistic propaganda...but i cant deny, this was a well done movie.

While at times slow, it breaks away from the cookie-cutter types of movies that keep coming out these days.Films like this, I feel, are underexposed and underappreciated. Most big new movies these days substitute dialogue and plot for big budget action and CGI.Films like Zachariah step out of the modern movie rut and focuses more on the emotional, psychological, and moral ideas and questions that the characters face. This type of film highlights those very things in a way that many modern films just can't.
