PRO: Il duo Helen Mirren - Ian McKellen, per la prima volta insieme sullo schermo, è imperdibile. Bill Condon ha un'innata eleganza per la composizione del quadro e si lascia suggestionare dalle location inglesi, con una puntata a Berlino. La trama gialla parte bene, grazie anche ai gustosi duetti sei suoi interpreti... CONTRO: ...ma nella seconda parte il film sfodera ambizioni troppo alte per una sceneggiatura sostanzialmente disimpegnata perdendo di vista l'obiettivo principale.
