So sad how each attempt to get to the city ended almost immediately. Boring boring boring. Especially the wasted time back in their home country. I thought on their third trip the "action" of the movie was going to happen and maybe they would finally find the church. However they managed to make the third build up trip even more boring with the biggest let down of all. Nothing happens and they just end the movie suddenly with a couple paragraphs of text. Wish I could get wasted time back in life from this movie. This movie belongs in the drama section, not action adventure.

Long, Slow Paced Movie. Disappointing. Looks exciting but nothing exciting ever really happens. Oh and they throw witchcraft in and have some some creepy possessed lady read from an ouiji board towards the end. If indeed based on a true story no wonder they never returned from their last journey to the jungle.

I thought this was a decent flick, but it could have been really good. I really wish they'd have shown more of the second trip. It's almost like they were editing the footage, and looked at the run time, and said "aww dang it! We're running too long. We need to wrap it up!" but nobody wanted to cut anything from the first 3/4 of the picture. It would have been nice to see more development of Jack. It's like he goes from resenting his Dad, to saying "let's do it", without showing the (internal) personal journey he made to get there. They could've had half the movie be about the second trip; showing Jack some of what kept his father gone so much of the time. Could've witnessed Jack's "Ah ha" moment. (I haven't read the book, so I have no idea whether any of my thoughts would've kept the story anywhere near the same)
