About this movie

Based on a true story, the film follows two friends in their early 20s (Hill and Teller) living in Miami during the Iraq War who exploit a little-known government initiative that allows small businesses to bid on U.S. Military contracts. Starting small, they begin raking in big money and are living the high life. But the pair gets in over their heads when they land a $300 million deal to arm the Afghan Military—a deal that puts them in business with some very shady people, not the least of which turns out to be the U.S. Government.

There has been a lot of movies about the Glory of War and fewer about the realities. Despite Jonah Hill's personal desire to give everything he does a 'Stoner' bias this movie was enjoyable and apropos on his series of sorta kinda real characters (eg The Wolf of Wall Street). It also punches the Eisenhower warning of the military-industrial complex (Jan 17, 1961) like it's acronomyical Lord of War (Andrew Niccol Nicholas Cage) and Hyena Road (Paul Gross) compadres or more factually accurate books like the The Great War for Civilisation by Robert Fisk. But then it goes 'nah' and scales back to traditional stoner 3rd act best described by a Honest Trailer review.

Lord of War without Nicolas Cage, mixed with Wolf of Wall Street. Drags on a bit; good start though.
