About this movie

Fictional film based on the true life experiences of circus sideshow freaks made in the 1930s. The film was edited for American distribution and banned in England for over 30 years. However, recently, it has taken on cult status for its campy plot and the real circus entertainers who appear in the film. Directed by horror film master Tod Browning.

A controversial masterpiece! A movie that ended Browning's career and many others too. Olga Baclanova played the exact same type of character in the romance - drama - horror movie The Man Who Laughs (1928). Her career was also ended. Horror movies are my life. I don't watch any movies but horror. Which is why every single one of my top 1 million fave films are all horror. Lots of people will disagree on that. Freaks is more a genre of its own. A genre that has never ever been touched since!
