It was a fun time! It's a bit rushed (not surprising given it's an adaptation of a 600 page novel into a 2 hour movie) but always entertaining. If you're expecting an explanation or reason for Dev Patel playing David Copperfield, maybe leave that at the door. He's here because he's good in the part, there really isn't more to it than that. It's very theatrical and probably not for everyone, but if you can get on its wavelength it's enjoyable.

Didn't love this as I hoped. The pace was weird - both slow and heavy going and then frenetic. Maybe I just don't love Dickens

Bourgeois progressive sentimentality at its apex. Just awful. Watch the BBC adaptation of 20 years ago.
