Past DBZ movies were loosely based on what was currently happening in the mainline story. This is perhaps the first step outside of what happened and timewise takes place between the end of DBZ and the start of DBGT. The animation is as good as it gets as a movie. But those who know the ol' DBZ movie formula may not find anything new in this. It's traditional in many ways and there isn't anything added other than the antagonist. If you've seen a bit of DBZ before, this is a good movie to view. But on the other end of the spectrum, those who've seen a lot can optionally skip it. Rating it 3/5 as one who grew out of DBZ.

I actually did not like it and found it was quite a let down. The fight near the end was awesome, and i love the new bad guys, but something was missing. I love dbz and watched every episode probably 10 times since i was little, so i have nothing against it, it is my fave series:-) But movies like history of trunks are much better imo.

Kibito Kai actually was never an official title. Not in the manga anyways. Kid Buu was never a thing. Kid Buu is a form of Majin Buu. Like Perfect Cell. Or Frieza's final form. It's just Majin Buu. Frieza. Cell. Got it? Let's move on. Goku is resurrected when Elder Kai gives Goku his lifeforce, immediately before Goku returns to Earth. And Beerus leaving for food is just an excuse. He develops a respect for Goku, something you'll have to watch DB Super to find out. It was a fun movie.
