About this movie

This visual and musical masterpiece features Yul Brynner's Academy Award®-winning performance, an unforgettable Rodgers and Hammerstein® score, and brilliant choreography by Jerome Robbins. It tells the true story of an Englishwoman, Anna Leonowens (Deborah Kerr), who comes to Siam as schoolteacher to the royal court in the 1860's. Though she soon finds herself at odds with the stubborn monarch (Brynner), over time, Anna and the King stop trying to change each other and begin to understand one another.

Bouncy, sexy and ravishing musical epic that thankfully (in my humble but honest opinion) is high on drama and acting rather than song and dancing. Deborah Kerr and Yul Brynner are magisterial and the perfect pairing as the stubborn teacher and stern King whose kids she must educate. For more, see the full review: bit.ly/KingandI1956

After paying for this favourite film in HD. It was dissapointing that after the opening credits the main feature presentation was in full screen. The days of panning and scanning widescreen movies are over. High price for a poor presentation of a classic film. Oklahoma has also suffered this same fate

This film is soooo touching and self explanatory, quite interesting; the children are cute.
