About this movie

The remarkable and tragic story of one of the 20th century's most important people, Alan Turing. 100 years after his birth, we rediscover the man and the mystery. Codebreaker: The Alan Turing Story recounts this maverick British genius, who played a crucial part in the founding of three new fields of science, as well as breaking the Nazis' Enigma code during World War II. Historians credit his code breaking with helping to shorten the war by two years and saving millions of lives. As the founding father of computer science and artificial intelligence, Alan Turing envisioned our digital world long before anyone else. Turing\’s visionary brilliance was overshadowed by his conviction for 'gross indecency' with another man in 1952. He was forced to undergo chemical castration to 'change' his sexual orientation. In despair, Turing committed suicide in 1954. He was only 41 years old. This award-winning drama documentary uses emotional and engaging reconstructions to bring Turing to life in intricate detail and high colour. Documentary elements seamlessly interconnect with drama scenes to offer a three dimensional picture of Turing, his accomplishments, his tragic end, and his lasting legacy.

A little slow and a bit too much information on his "masterbation, soixante-neuf, with intergenital friction" activities. The psychoanalyst scenes were very well acted by Ed Stoppard. A poignant & thought provoking script. I didn't know about Turing's work on morphogenesis it does make you wonder what else he could have contributed to the world as mentioned in the docudrama.
