Nonya Bizness
Terrible..... Even if you are a fan of the series? The movie version is horrid. Everything is overdone, literally everything. Where in the TV series everything was done fairly well. Now the storyline is abserdly ridicilious, everyone overacts, the ciminatography is too grand. And they changed characters, granted in little ways but they did. Like one character had brown hair in the series now has jet black hair? Things that WILL bother you if you really are a fan. Don't waste your money!

Gawd, I wished I had read Nonya Bizness' review before I rented this. Review hits the accuracy target right on. Yes, it's full of the pomp and fashion and era you come to expect in a period piece, but now you've got to have a good ability of disconnect from the reality in order to enjoy this video. Note how the character Barrow played by Robert James-Collier first waits on the polishing of the silver to confer with the lead staff of the visiting royals to ask which pieces they'll focus on, and after creating that situation, when he's upstaged by the returning Mr. Carson played by Jim Carter, Barrow barks back at his employer, Lord of the manse. They couldn't figure out something better to use for their plot device? I gave 3 stars on the basis of it's established reputation, not on the recommendation I make for this movie.

I enjoyed the movie overall as it was nice to have contact with the characters again. It was a little choppy in sequencing some of the stories.A bit too much emphasis on the opulence.Wasn't this supposed to be a continuation from the rise of Naziism? I do however see where they left themselves open for another sequel as there are quite a few unfinished storylines . I was thrilled that Tom,my favourite character from the beginning finally got his second chance at love but need to have the story expanded.Overall very entertaining.
