Michael Daye makes a promise to his dying friend to look out for his wife Emily and daughter Amy, but as fate would have it, Emily becomes incapacitated and Michael finds himself solely responsible for Amy's care. When Amy's relatives object because Michael is a Black man, unlike them, his fiancée gives him an ultimatum. Will he honor his promise or cave in to the pressures surrounding him?
