About this movie

When three 20th century astronauts fall through a time warp and crash-land on Earth in the year 3085 A.D., the survivors find themselves trapped in an alien time. Their friends and family are long dead, the technological society they came from has fallen and humanity has been enslaved by intelligent, talking apes. The humans, Alan Virdon (Ron Harper) and Pete Burke (James Naughton), are joined by a curious chimpanzee named Galen (Roddy McDowall); the trio are pursued by Urko (Mark Lenard), a determined gorilla law enforcer. In one ape village, in order to secure the freedom of a condemned human, Alan agrees to participate in a dangerous horse race, riding the horse of a chimpanzee prefect. When he shows up for the match, he finds that he is racing against Urko. After narrowly avoiding capture at the race's end, the trio come across a community of human farmers. They are ruled over by a despotic ape who has gained control of their land through bribery. Alan, Pete and Galen plot to help the farmers overthrow him. This TV movie is derived from two episodes of the Planet of the Apes tv show: "The Horse Race" and "The Tyrant.
