It is a joy to watch Time After Time (1979) not just because of writer/director Nicholas Meyer's witty and poigant script, but also because of the off kilter romance between Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenbergen's on-screen characters. They gel wonderfully together as they try to stop David Warner's vicious, time travelling "Jack The Ripper". Miklós Róza's musical score here reminds anyone of the power of romance on film, while also reminding us and hearkening to the 1940s golden age of cinema.
