Plot, attraction, theme, acting, dialogue, cinematography, editing & effects, sound & music, every single aspect that makes a movie is present at it's best. We begin the movie just like our protagonist Alita, totally oblivious about what the world has become, one can say we experience the events through her wide eyes. As we dive in deeper we learn more about Alita together with her, and what has happened to the world in the future. As Alita sets out to learn about her past and find her true identity, she finds herself in the path of her inevitable fate that she has been built for. Speaking for myself I have watched it multiple times and still can watch it for many more. I must say that I absolutely need sequals of this marvelous feat. Every single time watching it you see or notice something you haven't compared to viewing it the previous time, without it getting old or boring. Because our character Alita is integrated to CGI through performance capture (with the added facial tracking to express emotions better in the CGI character compared to motion capture) with Rosa Salazar's excellent performance, you forget that Alita's character is CGI and she blends in the real world and around real people with her visuals, motions and emotions. Also you get used to her eyes being big in a matter of seconds, after the film Alita's eyes were normal to me and human eyes appeared as too small. And Sadly I have seen people criticize this masterpiece because it doesn't match the manga/anime with 100% accuracy. But you have to keep in mind that this movie contains 4 of 9 volumes of the original manga, so there are parts that need to be trimmed in order for it to become a movie, and I can say they did a fantastic job delivering the story to the viewer efficiently. And there are very crucial parts that had been added to reinforce the original story, and that litterally adds to the story instead of making it worse according to the manga/anime version diehards. Unfortunately and sadly I am yet to stumble upon a film that has such a nicely built consistent story and the right amount of everything, like not too much or too less happiness, drama, darkness, predictability, etc. And remember no film is perfect, but this is the closest we got to it. If you haven't watched it, go watch it and you'll come back here to rate it 5 stars

This movie is mediocre, the anime version is far better and darker compared to this one that seems juvenile at times. There were additions to the film beyond the anime that dont add anything good to the movie. The choice of leaving Alita's eyes big is a weird one, Alita looks awful at times like a monster. After watching the movie and comparing it to the anime I just felt this was a downgrade, I really hope there is not a second part coming.

[July 27th 2019] I'm so disappointed with the subtitles, because on half way of the movie it suddenly goes off-timing (the scene when Alita about to participate in an official Motorball and lots of *spoilers* are about to *spoilers*.). Please fix it so my hearing-impaired / deaf relatives can also enjoy this awesome movie. [March 26th 2020] Thanks for finally fixing the subtitles, guys. Now we can all enjoy this awesome movie during self isolation from the Coronavirus. Stay safe, everyone.
