Ukjent soldat, av AKU LOUHIMIES, er en fortelling om en tropps tre års tjenestegjøring under Den finske fortsettelseskrigen. Filmen er basert på en klassiker av VÄINÖ LINNA og beskriver hvordan disse mennene blir forent av vennskap, humor og viljen til å leve på veien dit og tilbake. Krigen forandrer livet til alle soldatene, samt for alle dem som er igjen hjemme, og den vil også komme til å prege hele nasjonen.

Veldig,veldig bra krigsfilm. Verdt både kjøp og leie.

I did not really understand the history behind this war before I saw this film other than that I knew Karelien is considered a lost part of a former entity known as the nation of Finland that was made independent from Russia as a consequence of cultural differences and separation due to turmoil from a revolution in what was then considered as a Tsar Empire formerly ruled by the Romanov Dynasty. It was so sad when they had to leave the land they once regarded as theirs. Great story, it is credible told and it seem accurate. The photography is great, and the characters are believable, the tone and the jovial interaction between the soldiers seem correct. The Sardonic main character Rokka seem like a typical male figure from this time and area, and circumstances. He is also the only one who is described in some dimensionality in the narrative. I wanted to read the book, but never got around to do that.
