A very slow burn but I suppose it's alright. Kurt Russell is underwhelming in this performance, which is disappointing considering all the good westerns he's been a part of. There are a lot of directionless filler scenes and poor dialogue that doesn't seem to support any themes of the movie. The graphic violence towards the end might go too far in its gratuity for some viewers, so those with weak stomachs be wary. All in all it manages to be a mostly enjoyable experience and is worth one watch.

At first blush, this is an original and oddly compelling film featuring some really enjoyable performances from Kurt Russell and cast, especially Richard Jenkins. The dialog sounds authentically archaic and manages to be witty and believable but as the film moves into some genuinely chilling sequences, the graphic violence just became too extreme for me. It's been a long time since I've looked away from a screen. I won't be watching this one a second time.

Can't believe 550 people gave this junk 5 stars! It is very boring from the start with no dialogue, poor quality character builds except that you know these people will get eaten and die some corny death in their end. This movie isn't even funny, except the corny zombie like cave dwellers that eat their prisoners, that too is so minimal you can't enjoy the main characters getting mauled. Save your money for something else!!
