This is an interesting take on the Forty Seven Ronin in a tale of honor, sacrifice and valour. Based on true events but with a mythical twist, 47 Ronin will keep you entertained throughout. With a story like this, it is easy to make a mistake and turn it into an all out cgi fest... however it has a good balance and I empathised with the characters while I wasn't too overwhelmed from the special effects. Very good fun and a moving story, I give this a healthy 6/10.

I think I should have spent my £3.50 and my evening watching Rush instead. It may sound daft given they sword play and the odd spot of magic, but it doesn't set thinks alight and seems predictable. Though I can understand the honour angle, it does kinda seem pointless in the end. A bit like a poker-faced end of Life of Brian. I'm afraid I very much side with a reviewer that summed it up as "lets all mope about for two hours and then kill ourselves".
