2015年度アカデミー賞®３冠を獲得！！名門音大に入学したドラマーと伝説の鬼教師の狂気のレッスンの果ての衝撃のセッションとはーー！？名門音楽大学に入学したニーマン（マイルズ・テラー）はフレッチャー（J・K・シモンズ）のバンドにスカウトされる。ここで成功すれば偉大な音楽家になるという野心は叶ったも同然。だが、待ち受けていたのは、天才を生み出すことに取りつかれたフレッチャーの常人には理解できない〈完璧〉を求める狂気のレッスンだった。浴びせられる罵声、仕掛けられる罠…。ニーマンの精神はじりじりと追い詰められていく。恋人、家族、人生さえも投げ打ち、フレッチャーが目指す極みへと這い上がろうともがくニーマン。しかし…。

Ratings and reviews

Unbelievably bad. While the acting is consistently good, and the cinematography is also on point, the only part of the writing that works at all is the way the young protagonist is characterized: Unsure, immature, occasionally belligerent, selfish, and far too trusting. The rest is a train wreck. Anyone who has spent any time practicing music performance will likely laugh and then cry at the comically bad way instruction is framed here; anyone with a pulse should really be looking at the way most of the characters act and speak and wondering what sort of 13-year-old, terrified of what high school might be like, somehow had their worst adolescent fears turned into a major production. This is awful, and it's a bit of a tragedy that so much acting talent and production quality were wasted on this insultingly bad script.

始めから最後まで見て、ラストシーンだけ爽快でした。他のシーンは私にとって非常に気分の悪いものでした。人間関係で何かしらしくじってる人にはオススメしません。楽器・バンドの練習・上達とはこういう面もあるものだと強く再認識させられる作品です。

主人公もハゲもラストシーンの後何か未来があるとは思えないんだが……。ホントに誰一人幸せになれないオチ。
