Sobre este filme

The most legendary Barbarian of all time is back.  Having thrived and evolved for eight consecutive decades in the public imagination- in prose and graphics, on the big screen and small, in games and properties of all kinds- Conan's exploits in the Hyborian Age now come alive like never before in a colossal action-adventure film. A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil.

Compared to the Arnie movies, this is both closer to the works of Howard, and somehow further away. The world, as presented in this movie, is closer to the time of Kull than Conan, but Momoa both looks more like Conan, and is a better actor overall to portray the Cimmerian (Arnold wasn't nearly emotive enough to be Conan). Khalar Zymm and Merique are faithful to Robert Howard's portrayal of Hyborean age sorcerers. They'd fit right in with the Black Ring of Stygia, though they look Zamoran. Fitting, given that the greatest Hyborean sorcerers hail from the nation of Zamora. Merique's dark magic being tied so closely to the Acheronian Empire was also a nice touch, given how little Acheron is mentioned in the Robert Howard stories. Overall, while the world itself is distinctly pre-Hyborean, but the characters are fittingly Howardian. If you go in expecting the Arnold Schwarzenegger movies you'll be let down. If you go in expecting a low magic sword and sorcery fantasy movie with lots of fast paced action and awesome scenery you'll be happy. Just don't go into this looking to Drogo the Barbarian.

Quite a few people have said this is a bad film, plagued by bad acting or rushed production. Quite a few people are unworthy of a Cimmerian film. This movie is truer to Robert E. Howard's original stories than the first two films. The plot is very pulpy, and hits all the right notes. The cinematography mimics the composition and art style of Frank Frazetta, and there are some color palettes directly lifted from the fantasy master's paintings. The acting and casting are perfect for this film. While it may make fans of "higher" art cringe at its base nature, the true Howard fan will find much to enjoy here.

This movie doesn't hold a candle to the 1982 Schwarzenegger classic. Bad acting, terrible CG effects, and even worse dialogue. There's some ok battles, Jason Momoa tries hard, and Rachel Nichols is a babe but its mediocre at best. Barely worth a rental.
