About this movie

This 1978 cult classic tells the tale of Jennifer Hills, a magazine writer from New York City who retires to a secluded cabin in the woods to write her first novel. While there, she is brutally assaulted, raped, and left for dead by four country boys. But Jennifer doesn't die. Emotionally destroyed, she abandons her novel and instead finds herself choreographing a horrific plan of brutal and violent revenge. Over the years, I Spit On Your Grave has gained a reputation for being an extremely graphic and violent film, as well as one of the most controversial films ever.

Regardless to what people think of this film, the plot, acting or even the nudity. For the TIME/ERA when this film was made, makes this a much better movie than some people of "this" time/era (who have seen much better acting now) are willing to give it credit for. Go back to movie orginals vs. the re-makings; The Day The Earth Stood Still, Invasion Of The Body Snatchers, King Kong, Planet Of The Apes, Vampires, Werewolves & Frankenstein. Even with todays movies you can always find something wrong with it.

Good is relative in this case, I'm a sucker for movies in the 70's (who isn't) so I might be biased but, even with the kind-of shite acting and a few other discrepancies ,this movie by far is much better than the remake, though it was definitely lacking with the revenge scenes.

I don't understand why so many good ratings for a film with such a thin plot and weak acting. One would think this was a great film from the reviews. It ain't. I suppose some liked all the nudity, but that sure doesn't make up for all the bad acting, strained plot, and unrealistic events.
