About this movie

Acclaimed filmmaker Guy Ritchie brings his dynamic style to the epic fantasy action adventure “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword.” Starring Charlie Hunnam in the title role, the film is an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne. When the child Arthur’s father is murdered, Vortigern (Jude Law), Arthur’s uncle, seizes the crown. Robbed of his birthright and with no idea who he truly is, Arthur comes up the hard way in the back alleys of the city. But once he pulls the sword from the stone, his life is turned upside down and he is forced to acknowledge his true legacy…whether he likes it or not.

This movie doesn't make an attempt at establishing a multifaceted plot, it's points are simplified and sped up, not all together linear but close. It feels like more of a summary than a story. But rather than criticize it, it should be understood. This wasn't an attempt at an exact retelling, but a go at a modern interpretation. Like any summary there are highlights, in this case, all of which are centered on Arthur. It's the story of Arthur. Told with a complete focus on the born King. 4.5/5

Never knew history was or could be so intriguing! I loved this movie and despite past reviews I will be looking at it again. I saw the trailer and tried in vain trying to find it to purchase. So finally saw it was offered on Vudu for free with a few TV breaks....it was worth it...only had about 6 interuptions which gave me time for snacks and bathroom breaks! It was shocking however that Best Buy or Wal-mart didn't have it in stock im store or online!

First off... All the people that posted their opinion on this movie that had an issue with the historical accuracies... Need to get an imagination and unwind the tightness that bounds them. Yes the movie is not historically accurate and yes the timing may be off as to when it actually was supposed to have taken place, but it's a movie people and movies don't have rules that they must abide by. Ultimately based on a myth because while King Arthur and Camelot were real, the whole sword situation... the magical sword in case anybody forgot... is just a big myth. So is the movie good in its own right... yes and is there great action sequences... yes and are the visuals pretty eye-popping... yes. So overall it was an enjoyable movie. I like the different styles that were thrown into it and how Ritchie rushed certain scenes so that we weren't watching boring parts for long periods of time which made it more interesting. I like the movie. It wasnt the best movie I've ever seen but it certainly wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen. Now...everybody have a drink and lighten up.
