About this movie

Fast-paced documentary about the storied football rivalry between two Akron, Ohio parochial high school football powerhouses (Archbishop Hoban and St. Vincent-St. Mary) and the city that embraces them. Chronicling nearly 60 years of history, the film also takes you inside of both schools (present day), in the locker rooms and on the field during the week leading up to and culminating in the annual game played in front of 20,000 people. The film depicts the true emotion of the game, on and off of the field, told exclusively from the people who have lived it. The Akron Holy War truly is 48 minutes that last a lifetime.

I am not really a football person, and I did NOT grow up in the Midwest. BUT I LOVED THIS FILM! And now I kinda wish I grew up in the midwest!!! This documentary is fantastic! I got completely enveloped in this amazing journey through time, and could not wait to see the actual game! The traditions of this town are so heart warming, and from a city girl: mind blowing. It was amazing to watch these two schools over the years, and learn about how families come together, and become divided, over this game! I followed up after watching online because I was so into it: and one of the school's won the Ohio State Championship!! The music in this film was amazing, too! I went and got the soundtrack on iTunes after. Definitely an amazing watch!!!
