Looks like critics are trying to read into the political allusions at play. People, lighten up - it's a movie about carving butter. Great laugh-out-loud moments mixed with some unexpectedly sincere sweet moments. Butter is best described Christopher Guest movie - reminiscent of Best in Show - without the mockumentary angle, and with a big infusion of heart. Great movie, with some hysterical and poignant moments. Olivia Wilde steals every scene she's in, and her R-rated theatrics contrast perfectly with the film's two other best performances from the young Yara Shahidi and her sweet adopted father Rob Corddry. Hugh Jackman and Alicia Silverstone are top-billed but left to small bit roles. Ty Burrell appears as, well, Phil Dunphy with a different name - just as funny and loveable as on the TV show, but would love to see what else he's got.
