About this movie

Tom Hanks stars as Joe, a squashed bug of a guy under the heel of a hideous corporation, working in an awful office with bad air, bad light and lousy coffee...Then everything changes in this romantic comedy about courage and a man's soul...of a man coming back to life on a journey that takes him halfway around the world. To the edge of great delight. To the brink of an exploding volcano.

A hidden gem. The first Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan team up. Somehow lost in time. Before "Sleepless in Seattle " and "You've Got Mail". "Joe Vs. the Volcano" was cinematic genius. With content that can be enjoyed from a myriad of scales. This movie is a true adventure, a true work of art and a true classic.

What can be said about this movie? Well it was made when Tom Hanks was still funny and he was a very funny guy in his early years. Meg Ryan pulls off a triple role and is cute as can be. And is that Abe Vigoda in there, I think it is. It's just a cute and funny, a little silly in spots, romcom ... will Joe defeat the volcano? You have to watch to find out.

Considering that some critics have dismissed this movie for various reasons, they STILL missed the true meaning of this gem. It's amazing that critics who went to higher education institutions can miss the message of this movie. Joe (Tom Hanks) was disillusion with life and it's every day drab... the moment he thought he was at the end of his life (aboard the 4 luggages in the Pacific Ocean), he realized what a gift it is to live and thanked God for his life and EVERYTHING that transpired.. sometimes you have to take a step back and realized how precious life really is.
