The first feature-length film from the acclaimed Studio TRIGGER, creators of the hit series KILL la KILL and Little Witch Academia, and director Hiroyuki Imaishi (GURREN LAGANN, KILL la KILL), Promare uses a bold cel-shaded visual style to tell a blistering action-adventure story, and is the spiritual successor to many of director Imaishi's former works. Thirty years has passed since the appearance of Burnish, a race of flame-wielding mutant beings, who destroyed half of the world with fire. When a new group of aggressive mutants calling themselves "Mad Burnish" appears, the epic battle between Galo Thymos, a new member of the anti-Burnish rescue team "Burning Rescue," and Lio Fotia, the leader of "Mad Burnish" begins.

Ratings and reviews

Just watched this with my wife who's a huge fan of Gurren, kill la kill, etc and she gives this 5 stars. I also hugely enjoyed it, might give 4.5 stars, but def the expected tour-de-force of action, comedy, bigger than life characters, and a story that matters and pulls just enough on your heart strings to make you truly care of what's about to happen next. The animation style may take a bit to get used to, but it's as edgy as you'd expect, given who the makers are. Don't miss out on this!!

Doesn't include the 10-minute prequels, however the movie itself is one of my favorites of all time, if not my true favorite movie ever! The English dub is also one of my favorites out of all of the anime I've watched; the cast's improvisation and delivery of each line is solid and fits their characters probably TOO well lol. Such a fun ride from start to finish, and, as others have said, Trigger's style and animation is absolute eye candy.

Honestly all I really should say is it's a Trigger movie. They do amazing work with almost anything no matter what the story is. They don't do good writing but they do entertainment and animation really well. Just like everything they make it has a unique style. It draws from their other work in some parts but in full it somehow pulls off its own style. I am a big fan of Studio Triggers work and I think they have out done themselves this time with great visuals and a really nice choice of music. It isn't often you see something like this from a studio dedicated to entertainment so please watch this you won't regret it.
