About this movie

Hubie is a shy, romantic penguin who must find the courage to present his betrothal pebble to Marina, the woman of his dreams. Not alone in his pursuit of Marina, Hubie is nearly lost in a struggle with the villainous penguin, Drake, who also has his eye on her. With the help of his cantankerous sidekick, Rocko, Hubie must battle against the elements and his enemies on the high seas to return to Antarctica and his sweetheart. But if Hubie does not present Marina with his precious pebble by The Full Moon Ceremony, she will be forced to accept the evil Drake as her mate...for life. Based on the true-life mating rituals of Antarctica's Adeli penguin.

A strangely animated but lively gem with simplistic but strong storytelling with an artistic screenplay. The animation is strange, but also looks like art, the style of the animation looks like a drawing coming to life. Even though it's an animated film with the definition of a cartoon in it's own right, some of the exaggerated character designs don't look like penguins that much, but, on the bright side: the character faces are very expressive. The animation does need some improvement though, like color coding, shading, blending, lighting, and some of the lip-syncing needs to catch up on time with the words. The animation is decent overall. The plotting to it's narrative may be simplistic, but, also strong and confident, thanks to it's strong tension, moving narration, captivating imagination, gripping screenplay, clever script ideas, and the power of friendship was never broken throughout the whole film. The music score was a great support for the film, it's energetic and even has high spirits. Most of the characters are likable...sometimes. The voice cast was a perfect fit for every character. When it comes to dialogue, for the majority of the time it was good in a simplistic manner, but there are a few plot holes that need to be filled up. Each song in it's soundtrack is wonderful, the songs sounded it like they came out of broadway in terms of the instrumentation, the mood, the screenplay, and how well-directed the singing is. some of it's comedy is amusing due to it's timing, music score, and voice acting. Overall: This solid animated film is recommended for a collection of babysiiter movies.

If you haven't seen many of his movies, definately take the time! Pebble and the penguin, secret of nimh, we're back, all dogs go to heaven, anastasia and manuy, many more. I wish the studio that made these films were still around and not Disney honestly.
