About this movie

The spirit-lifting true story of Olympic hopeful Jill Kinmont is brought to life in this critically acclaimed tale of human courage and determination. Marilyn Hassett stars as the tenacious Kinmont, an up-and-coming world class skier who faces her greatest challenge when she is left paralyzed from the neck down during a pre-Olympic competition in the 1950's. Beau Bridges and Dabney Coleman co-star in this story of a champion determined to find "the other side of the mountain."

We saw this when I was pretty young, but it was all about overcoming obstacles in your life and that life is not limited because of a physical handicap. We learned this growing up cause my dad had MS. So handicaps were always prevalent . Jill Kinmont, who the movie is about, should be remembered as a fighter, a true champion to the Olympic Games. She was a hero in our house, I hope that time will recognise her as such.

This story reminds me of a wonderful and inspiring film about the life of the 'writer, artiist and speaker Joanie Erickson Tada. Both two courageous women who overcame challenges to live victoriously.

This has always been one of my favorite movies. I can watch it every day.. Jill kinmont passed away not too long ago. She lived in Bishop most of her life. What an inspiration she was! Belinda Carslile also played a good supporting role. And I have to give kudos to Dabney Coleman as the coach and especially Beau Bridges. As Mad Dog Buick..it's a good movie to keep in your library.
