About this movie

In 1961, Michael Rockefeller, a member of the wealthy family and son of the future Vice-President of the United States, travelled to New Guinea on his second visit to study the remote Asmat tribe. After the boat he was travelling in capsized, Rockefeller swam for shore and was never seen again. Some say that he was cannibalized by the natives, others that he chose to live in seclusion amongst them. Almost 50 years later, two young couples head into the wilderness in an attempt to find Rockefeller and solve the mystery once and for all. But if Michael met a grizzly end, does the same fate await them? Written and directed by Jonathan Hensleigh, the prolific writer behind smash hit movies such as Jumanji, Die Hard With A Vengeance and Armageddon, Welcome to the Jungle is a taut and thought provoking journey into the heart of darkness.

Oh Lordy, did I want this to be good, but when you hit the hour mark and nothing of consequence has happen, you are not building suspense, you are testing the patience of your audience. And when the proverbial does eventually hit the fan, it is really not worth the wait. If this wanted to be the next generation of "Cannibal Holocaust" (which the one decent effect in the film screams that it does), then it fails on every conceivable level.
