A litany of terrific actors makes a nice modern remake in a classic form. Nothing terribly earth-shattering here, just a good old fashioned western for an updated era. Real without being overt, but just enough of the common tropes of the genre to make you smile and enjoy the ride.

If there were, ever, a remake that is better than the original then this is the first one I've seen. Much more gritty and touching than the original. Although, the ending as to how the villain changed in character is debatable. But not enough to destroy an enjoyable film.

This is a great western gunslinger rife with symbolism and twists. The ending on the surface is a bit confusing if you havnt really committed to the film. Perhaps that points to a lack of story building.
