About this movie

Jim Garrison, a New Orleans’s District Attorney, just can’t believe the Warren Commission official conclusion on the death of President Kennedy is accurate. Determined to prove them wrong, Garrison stakes everything to find the truth. He encounters a high-level Pentagon official who confirms to him that there was a conspiracy, but Garrison’s over-the-top antics interfere with his credibility, leaving him open for ridicule. However, as more and more proof comes to light of a possible conspiracy and cover-up, the more people take note. Garrison never quite achieves his goal of learning the truth, but his investigation gives the world many things to ponder. Written and directed by Oliver Stone, the film uses Jim Marrs book Crossfire: The Plot That Killed Kennedy and Jim Garrison’s On the Trail of the Assassins as the foundation of his script. Kevin Costner stars as Jim Garrison, the district attorney from New Orleans who determines to prove the Warren Commission’s report false. Garrison is not able to solve the most controversial assassination in American history but he proves that the story given to the public-at-large was false. This opens the door for others to come to their own conclusions...

3½★ which is about how long this movie is btw. Watched out of curiosity despite not being into politics and all that; maybe cuz currently reading Fear by Bob Woodward. The movie is pretty compelling and moving - especially the courtroom scene. Makes a *lot* of sense. 2029 is almost here, although thanks to another big lie (that is ok to eat advised animals and their secretions), climate change (Animal agriculture is the leading cause of GHG emissions) might render it all moot...

Weather you agree with the conclusion or not you cannot deny the undeniable craft of filmmaking. A atmospheric feel, stunning cinematography, a compelling storyline, skillful editing, a clever script that's beautifully acted by outstanding talent. It all comes together in this hugely enjoyable yet thought provoking piece of work. I highly recommended this.

What a terribly heartbreaking film. If John F Kennedy had lived the world would be a different place. THIS is true horror folks...
