About this movie

This is the third and last film in a series of wacky comedies about ace radio detective Wally Benton, played by Red Skelton. As Benton prepares to marry his sweetheart, his valet inadvertently convinces a newspaper reporter than Benton is the mysterious "Constant Reader," an anonymous tipster who the police suspect is actually a murderer. After being chased through old abandoned warehouses and mansions by the police--and by the real "Constant Reader"--Benton ends up hiding out as a bearded member of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Several real-life baseball players, including Leo Durocher, appear. Filming locations included Ebbets Field, Prospect Park, Flatbush Avenue, the Williamsburg Bank building, and the Manhattan Bridge.
