About this movie

The true story of a New York heiress and socialite who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer. The voice she heard was beautiful but to everyone else it was hilariously awful. Her husband and manager St Clair Bayfield was determined to protect his beloved from the truth, but when Florence decided to give a public concert at Carnegie Hall he knew he faced an impossible challenge.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It would have been so easy for Florence Foster Jenkins to have been portrayed as an object of ridicule but in this movie, this definitely was not the case. The movie was a sensitive and sometimes moving portrayal of a lady who was by all accounts generous and loyal not only to her friends but also to the music scene of the time. What she lacked in talent, she seemed to make up in passion, Although Streep and Grant give fantastic performances, for me it was Simon Helberg's portrayal of Cosme McMoon which was the stand out performance. I would happily see this movie again.

Sweet bitter film showing the best and worst of the human condition. Some characters who should live in perpetual shame and others who gave you a reason to smile. You work out which.

Excellent script, and acting. Meryl should have got the best actress for this at the BAFTAs. The ones who won ,couldn't embody a character if they tried. Hilarious and touching.
