Gene Barry (TV's Bat Masterson) and Ann Robinson (TV's Fury) are among the humans intrigued when a meteor-like object crashes to Earth ... but its occupants are definitely not friendly. The assault on Earth is underway, and the Martian machines -- hovering "swan"-shaped vehicles of destruction -- are both beautiful and terrifying as they cut a relentless path of annihilation.

Ratings and reviews

A total Sci-fi classic. It had some really cool and suspenseful moments. It might scare some young children, but it doesn't have any real gory violence. Some awesome laser and explosion effects, and I loved the global scale of the invasion. I did find some scenes a bit boring though.

The original and the best apart from odd bits here and there it goes along the book oh so very well buy it!!!

I gave it 3 stars, considering it was made in 1953. Rather clever for its time.
