About this movie

This feature film from Executive Producer Harry Shearer (The Simpsons, This Is Spinal Tap) explores life in New Orleans a little over a year after Hurricane Katrina wiped out much of the city, interweaving characters as diverse and eccentric as the city itself. Flood Streets stars sing-songwriter Becky Stark (The Decemberists, The Living Sisters, Lavender Diamond), and a rollicking soundtrack of New Orleans musicians including the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Meschiya Lake, Panorama Jazz Band, and the Zydepunks.

haunting story of the people in the city that i love. The struggle that is new orleans! the art, the zydeco, the spirit, the fear, the blackouts, the toughness- all interweaved with multiple wonderful poignant stories! this film captures outsiders' skepticism about saving NOLA, the cockroach investors that came in right after Katrina, a reluctant real estate agent who is later tempted by welfare fraud, a 9 year old girl with a dream. all the while with a dynamite music lineup- including the Preservation Hall Jazz Band and a second line as the movie climaxes and the 2 main characters Matt and his girfriend are united by a baby. give it a 5. miss u new orleans!

I watched with horror during and after Katrina hit New Orleans. It's amazing to see how some people rise to overcome the crushing reality of this devastating disaster.
