Alice Walker's story is without a doubt the greatest movie Steven Spielberg has ever made. Not only did it catapult Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah Winfrey into superstars, it brought to life this tragic story of oppression and redemption. This is our history, the one we gloss over in school and try to pretend only exits in the past.

I went to the movies to see this film. Let me tell you! Grown men cried, people laughed, jeered, shouted and at times there were quiet moments. Everyone should see this movie. It is a classic!

This was the very last movie that I'd watched at a "DRIVE IN MOVIE" back in 1986, at the "Cold Lake Drive In"!! One of the best movies i've ever seen!! I cried throughout this whole movie, it sure were a hard one at that. A must see!!
