While the younger kids who are currently watching the cartoons will get enough out of it, this is really geared to teens and parents who watched Dora as kids, with the movie combining self-aware jokes (the occasional look at the screen with adult vocabulary - "can you say extreme neurotoxicity?"), clever use of a cartoon segment with a context way over the heads of the littlies, how absolutely weird Dora's cheeriness and constant singing is in a big city high school full of hung-up teens (before a few of them get back into the jungle), mixed into an Indiana Jones type film that would keep all ages very amused, even though older kids and parents will get the most laughs, while cleverly ensuring it is safe for pre-schoolers, the more mature concepts well between the lines, so young children are wondering why big siblings and parents are laughing so much when nothing happened. But the littlies will get enough of Boots and Swiper being cute too, and won't realize that the songs, dances, talking backbacks are being subversive half the time. (My daughter grew up on Dora, my grandson grew up on Diego).
