About this movie

Fasten your garter belt and time warp again with The Rocky Horror Picture Show! When this cinematic sensation first sashayed onto the screen, moviegoers were treated to a gender-bending horror story/musical romantic comedy, and it remains one of the cinema's most enduring cult classics. Based on the musical by Richard O'Brien (who also plays Riff Raff and who co-wrote the screenplay with Jim Sharman, who directed), the film follows a newly engaged young couple, Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon), through the most unforgettable night of their lives. After their car gets a flat tire during a torrential rainstorm, Brad and Janet walk to a creepy castle, hoping to phone for help. But things take a turn for the outrageous when they meet the master of the castle – transvestite inventor Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry, recreating his stage role). Not only is the "doctor" hosting an entourage of aliens, he has brought a spectacularly muscular man (Peter Hinwood) to life. As Brad and Janet engage in some unexpected debauchery of their own in Frank's castle, they also witness shocking crimes! Also starring Meatloaf, Patricia Quinn, Little Nell, Jonathan Adams and Charles Gray, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a hilarious, campy romp filled with song-and-dance numbers – and enough horror to thrill you, chill you and fulfill you from start to finish

This is by far the weirdest and strangest movie I have ever seen. The story does not have any meaning, it was just made for fun and for the sake of being strange. And for me, this is a film that only the high level of IQ will truly understand. Did I have fun though? Yes I did. It's comedy is very slick and amusing. As a musical, it is dazzling and colorful for my ears with very fun songs throughout the whole soundtrack. It starts out with Brad and Janet singing a love song for Janet and when they came across the Frankenstein place. These songs sang by the couple were a lot of fun with wonderful singing and beautiful harmonies. But, when we enter the Frankenstein place and stay there, the soundtrack becomes wildly electrifying and power-driven with glam rock and rock-n-roll; songs including "Time-warp" and "Sweet Transvestite". The soundtrack of the film does manage to occasionally settle down just for a bit. I enjoyed the characters because they are all just plain kooky and campy and that contributes the strange fun, not to mention that the costumes that the cast are wearing really adds heavy gravity to sheer camp. Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon) are a dashing couple. However some of the acting by Susan Sarandon is pretty bad and awkward, and sometimes as a character she is pretty whiny sometimes. Dr. Frank N Furter (Tim Curry) provides a very odd and striking presence in terms of personality and style. And as a villain he is very bizzare and wicked in an eccentric way. In conclusion: This Sci-fi musical comedy was was created with intent to be utterly weird and outrageously campy, and it's fun with a breathtaking soundtrack and whimsical characters. This film would be very fun to watch, especially when you are in the mood for something utterly weird and nonsensical but in a rather appealing way. Recommended.

definitely one of my most favorite movies. I'm super into classic rock so the soundtrack has good song after good song for me. the characters are loveable, and although I can admit it is a bit problematic in some aspects, the movie itself is still so entertaining. high energy songs that mask the true gruesome reality of the plot, but hey, its all just sci-fi. in the end, its all just meant to be really lighthearted and it is most definitely a loved cult classic. would love to see a show live

I waited expectantly for this film to come out ever since I first heard about its' initial incarnation as a stage show on London's West End. When the movie finally arrived (in Philadelphia), I and my friends would go and sit through it multiple times in one day. I absolutely fell in love with everything about it. When it "became" a "midnight movie", well, my weekends were strictly planned out. In short, this fun free-for-all is NOT to be missed, time and again, for one hell of a great time!👄👠
