The dysfunction the western actors portray in a modern Japanese city is something I really connected with. A very enjoyable movie, but watching, listening and concentrating on all the nuisances present is very important to make the movie enjoyable. I have watched the movie few times, as there's always something to takeaway that I missed at the first viewing.

Not at all flat out hilarious who ever wrote that is a idiot liar, Seemed like an excuse to film in tokyo wasn't a whole lot of laughs ,would have given 1 star but Bill kept it ok expected alot more

I've lived so much of that experience and the film is painfully real (without the obsequious attention from others). The Japanese element is line by line accurate; the isolation and disconnection is universal, the vacuous behaviour of others (and of self), almost too hard to watch. I watch it to validate my memories. An almost perfect film and story to those who 'get it', probably a terrible or indecipherable or turgid waste to those who don't. Watch it and believe- it's real.
