ALF's antics drive the Tanners--Willie (series star MAX WRIGHT) and Kate (series star ANNE SCHEDEEN) and their children, Lynn (series star ANDREA ELSON) and Brian (series star BENJI GREGORY)--to relocate the furry alien to the family garage. But when ALF begs for a second chance, the Tanners decide to let him move back into the house on a trial basis. But the family has a very difficult week adjusting to the "new ALF."

Bored with his quiet life at the Tanners, ALF, an avid fan of the television series "Gilligan's Island," decides to create a South Sea island in their backyard--much to Willie's displeasure. But ALF gets a real shock when cast members from "Gilligan's Island"--Gilligan (BOB DENVER), the skipper (ALAN HALE), Mary Ann (DAWN WELLS) and the professor (RUSSELL JOHNSON)--show up to fish in his pond, and he comes to realize just what a cushy life he has with the Tanners.

Raquel Ochmonek (recurring guest star LIZ SHERIDAN - "Seinfeld"), the Tanners' next-door neighbor, sees the elusive ALF. After she tells everyone she spotted an alien being, Mrs. Ochmonek is treated by the townsfolk, including her husband, Trevor (recurring guest star JOHN LA MOTTA), as though she were crazy. But ALF, seeing her predicament, helps her regain her "sanity."

When Lynn encourages ALF to draw up his family tree, he discovers that his parents were married before he was born--a disgrace on his native planet, Melmac. This scandalous secret from his past makes ALF join a monastery, where he seeks solace as a monk, but ALF has difficulty adjusting to the brothers' vow of silence.

When the Tanners become a Nielsen family, ALF rigs the people meter to "skew up" the ratings of his favorite shows--which causes havoc for NBC Entertainment President Brandon Tartikoff (DAVID LEISURE - "Empty Nest"). The Tanners hope there won't be serious repercussions after ALF rigs the people meter to his spaceship and makes "Polka Parade" a ratings smash. Meanwhile, at NBC, Tartikoff is at a loss to explain the nosedive in the ratings his programming has taken, as moving men appear at his office door.

At ALF's urging, Willie hosts a Halloween costume party to impress his boss and get a better job. ALF decides to invite everyone to Willie Tanner's scary bash. The Tanners and their partygoers have some problems when ALF becomes the celebrated figure in the evening's festivities.

Lynn becomes upset when a boy rejects her at a school dance. Fearing she may not be as pretty as some of her schoolmates, she turns to her family for support. ALF enrolls her in a beauty contest, even though she has serious doubts about her own attractiveness, but ALF's plan to help Lynn is not without some surprises for everyone.

The Tanners are excited about hosting Dorothy (recurring guest star ANNE MEARA) and Whizzer's (recurring guest star PAUL DOOLEY) wedding in the Tanner home. Excluded from the wedding party, ALF reacts with a case of nonstop, nerve-shattering Melmacian hiccups. Everyone is upset by the pouting ALF's loud hiccup binge. As the ceremony begins, the search continues for an alternative to the Melmacian medical guide's hiccup remedy: cat juice!

ALF perks up at Willie's story of riding the rails and persuades Willie to take him on a nighttime trip to the train yard, where ALF and Willie secretly board a freight train in search of adventure.

When the Ochmoneks' nephew Jake (recurring guest star JOSH BLAKE), a belligerent boy who has trouble communicating with anyone, comes to stay with them while his father is in prison, they ask the Tanners for help in raising him. Even though the Tanners try valiantly, nobody can get through to him, except ALF, who discovers Jake's hidden talent and sets him on the right track.

ALF insists on helping Willie and the Tanners with their involvement in the neighborhood watch. After he joins the neighborhood block patrol, ALF reports so many false alarms that no one believes him when he spots a burglar entering the Ochmoneks' house. Pursuing the criminal himself, ALF finds he's the only one on the scene when the police arrive.

Willie must rescue ALF from the SWAT team surrounding the Ochmoneks' house, where ALF had pursued a burglar. Trapped in the Ochmoneks' home, ALF uses multiple voices to make the police think the mystery burglar has taken hostages. As the media and onlookers descend on the scene, Willie tries to figure out how to save ALF before the tear gas and bullets start flying.

An overprotective ALF tries to be a "seeing-eye alien" for his blind friend, Jody (recurring guest star ANDREA COVELL), whom he invites to live in his home when her building is converted into condominiums. To avoid imposing on the Tanners, Jody soon finds a place of her own, and ALF insists on moving in with her. But he doesn't take long to wear out his welcome with her.
20 You Ain't Nothin' But A Hound Dog

Mean old Ethel Buttonwood (ANNE RAMSEY - "Throw Momma from the Train") responds to the Tanners' advertisement about a lost dog that Brian brought home, but the Tanners are convinced that the cute canine really belongs to someone else. They're proven right when young Hannah (NICOLE DUBUC - "Major Dad") shows up to claim the dog. Unfortunately, ALF has already given the dog to Ethel because he felt resentful of the attention the Tanners were paying to the lost dog and jealous of the pooch encroaching on his place in the family.

Willie can't sell the Tanner home because ALF keeps spooking potential buyers with phony phantoms, poltergeists and goblins.

Everyone is at a loss for words to explain the antisocial behavior of ALF's latest mail-order acquisition--a ventriloquism dummy named Paul. As ALF becomes more skilled at throwing his voice, Paul becomes more manipulative. The Tanners are left speechless when he makes ALF his puppet. As a final resort, the Tanners call in psychologist Larry Dykstra (recurring guest star BILL DAILY - "The Bob Newhart Show") to help muzzle Paul.

Kate's former college roommate, Maura, spies ALF raiding the refrigerator and believes he is the imaginary friend who's been visiting her during her seven years of alcoholism. ALF alerts Kate and Willie to Maura's serious problem, and by continuing the charade, ALF helps Kate persuade Maura to seek help.

Lynn wants to enroll at Amherst, but the Tanners can't afford it because of the cost of ALF's damages and feedings. When he learns the cost of his upkeep is preventing Lynn from attending the college of her choice, a guilty ALF decides to become a newspaper carrier to cover his expenses. But after ALF signs up for 10 paper routes, Willie and Kate must help him deliver a roomful of newspapers.
