Black Sails is wonderful in every way a show can be: peerless cast (especially Toby Stephens, Zach McGowan, Toby Schmitz, Louise Barnes) who deliver amazingly nuanced performances; astonishing special effects for a TV series (especially 3.02, certainly at the level of production of Game of Thrones); masterful score by the always impressive Bear McCreary; a complex, well paced, rewarding story with arcs that leave you satisfied. Better than anything else on TV, gets even better after S1

I think the acting is really what makes this show, at least for me. They make a script, that was already above par, glow. My favourite character (and its hard to chose from the plethora of great ones!) is Luke Arnold's John Silver. It has less ham and more intrigue then Pirates of the Caribbean, which I like. The set pieces and period costumes are stunningly executed. But its also not a show for the faint of heart.

A drama full of plot twists, exceptional acting and graphic depiction which leaves you wondering why they didn't continue with the series after season 4. A must watch for anyone looking to be immersed in another world 🌎
