Bob Hearts Abishola

In the series premiere, we meet Bob, who runs his family’s successful, highly competitive sock company with his mother, Dottie (series star CHRISTINE EBERSOLE), his sister, Christina (series star MARIBETH MONROE), and his younger brother, Douglas (series star MATT JONES). When the stress of the job lands him in the hospital, he meets Abishola, his kind, hard-working nurse whom he’s immediately drawn to. Now all Bob needs to do is convince her to give him a chance, which will take some doing since they couldn’t be more different. After coming to America from Nigeria to find a better life for her and her son, Dele (series star TRAVIS WOLFE, JR.), a straight-A student, Abishola lives in a small apartment with her super-protective relatives, Auntie Olu (series star SHOLA ADEWUSI) and Uncle Tunde (series star BARRY SHABAKA HENLEY). Abishola’s close friends include fellow nurse Gloria (series star VERNEE WATSON) and Kemi (series regular GINA YASHERE).

While Bob waits for Abishola to make the next move, her Auntie Olu and Uncle Tunde make it hard for her by stalking him.

While Bob attempts to learn more about Nigerian customs, Abishola has to contend with gossip spreading about her relationship with Bob.

After Abishola calls things off with Bob, her Auntie Olu sets her up with a Nigerian pharmacist. Meanwhile, Bob tries online dating. MISSI PYLE guest stars as Bob’s online date, Liz; and TONY TAMBI guest stars as Abishola’s set-up, Chukwuemeka.

After Abishola has a romantic dream about Bob, she tries to suppress her feelings for him and pays the price.

Bob and Abishola finally go on a proper date, which is interrupted by Dottie’s medical emergency.

Bob hires Abishola to take care of Dottie in his home while she recovers. Dottie, however, has a hard time dealing with her limitations and takes it out on Abishola.

With Abishola only helping part-time, Bob, Douglas and Christina struggle to take care of Dottie.

After Abishola gives her previous suitor, Chukwuemeka (recurring guest star TONY TAMBI), a Nigerian pharmacist, a second chance, Uncle Tunde goes behind Auntie Olu’s back to warn Bob about the other man who’s courting his niece.

Bob must gain the confidence to fight for Abishola when she goes on another date with Chukwuemeka. Also, Uncle Tunde finds an unlikely friend in Dottie in the aftermath of his fight with Auntie Olu.

Bob, Douglas and Christina try to get Dottie to make a will. Also, Kemi and Abishola’s friendship is tested when Abishola catches Kemi in a lie.

While Bob and Abishola struggle to pull Dottie out of her depression, Auntie Olu and Uncle Tunde come over to lift her spirits. WENDIE MALICK and MARILU HENNER guest star as Dottie’s friends, Jen and Trish.

Abishola doesn’t appreciate it when Bob gives her unsolicited parenting advice about her “unhappy son.”

Excited by her physical therapy progress, Dottie insists she is ready to return to MaxDot – much to the dismay of Bob, Douglas and Christina.

When it comes to showing affection on Valentine’s Day, Bob and Abishola have to find a way to meet each other in the middle.

Dottie, Auntie Olu and Uncle Tunde must find a way to reconcile when they’re forced to eat dinner together. Meanwhile, Bob and Abishola have differing opinions on the progress of their relationship.

Abishola takes her relationship with Bob to the next level when she invites him into an intimate part of her life: church. Also, Kemi fights with Ogechi (guest star KIMBERLY SCOTT) to be Chukwuemeka’s favorite.

Bob’s past and present collide when his ex-wife, Lorraine (guest star NICOLE SULLIVAN), is admitted to Abishola’s hospital. Also, Christina recruits Kofo for a project to rename the sock colors.

Abishola must draw the line when Bob’s ex-wife, Lorraine (NICOLE SULLIVAN), tries to maneuver her way back into Bob’s life. And, Goodwin is concerned when Christina sets her romantic sights on Kofo.

Dottie makes an unexpected connection when she meets a fellow stroke survivor, Hank (guest star JOHN RATZENBERGER), at physical therapy. Also, Bob and Douglas try to keep tabs on Christina while she’s away at an emotional wellness spa.
