About this show

A sequel to the 1976 Fred Schepisi film examining Catholicism in Australia in the 1980’s, "The Devil’s Playground" takes place 35 years later. Recently widowed, respected Sydney psychiatrist, Tom Allen, finds solace in the church’s teachings and is asked by a bishop to counsel priests on church-related issues. At a time when a battle for power and direction within the Catholic Church is rising, the greatest scandal to threaten the Church breaks - the systematic and knowing cover up of sexual abuse of minors by the clergy. While Tom attempts to bring a recently discovered predator within the church to justice, the church tries to foil his efforts.
