Comedy, that is. They also know to quit on top. Every character in this show, from the main characters of Basil and Sybil, to the help, and the guests, dish out the droll humor made famous by the BBC. It's witty and in the gutter at the same time, though I would venture to think it's not the cup of tea of Americans looking for standard sitcom fare. Cleese is brilliant, but then again, when isn't he? I highly recommend for afficianados of silly, smart, character-driven humor that assumes you get the joke.

John Cleese is one of the funniest men to ever live, and few things better embody his amazing sense of humor. I'm not sure there's much else I can say about Fawlty Towers other than I love it because after over 20 years of watching it(I'm 37, I'm not old!), it still makes me laugh and I still love John Cleese, Connie Booth, Prunella Scales and Andrew Sachs. They had excellent chemistry on this show, and it's always a wonderfully great watch.
