Everyone seems to know who the father of Rachel's unborn baby is except for the man himself: Ross. When he finds out, he is more concerned with other matters than his relationship with Rachel. Meanwhile, Phoebe and Joey fib about a gas leak to gain entry to Monica and Chandler's apartment.

Ross and Rachel's attempt to explain to everyone how they ended up in bed together six weeks earlier quickly devolves into an argument over who pursued whom. At Monica's Halloween party, Phoebe meets the friendly fiancé, Eric (special guest star SEAN PENN - "Dead Man Walking"), of her flighty twin, Ursula. Phoebe becomes alarmed when she learns that her sister has misrepresented herself to the trusting guy--and Phoebe finds herself attracted to him as well. Monica comes disguised as Catwoman and wonders if she could defeat Phoebe's Supergirl character. Chandler arrives as a pink bunny and mistakes Ross' giant "Spudnik" costume for something found on a sidewalk. Also, Rachel gives away all the candy and guiltily resorts to writing checks for the trick-or-treaters.

Ross is happy to learn that pregnant Rachel wants to find her own apartment. He suggests a vacancy in his building but later discovers that the elderly occupant is not dead yet, as he had assumed. Ross gets some tough competition from Rachel's roommate, Joey, who creates a nursery in their apartment to persuade her to stay. Meanwhile, Phoebe is ecstatic when Eric (recurring special guest star SEAN PENN) ends his relationship with her twin sister, Ursula (also played by series star LISA KUDROW), and chooses Phoebe instead. Rachel nervously tells her short-tempered father, Dr. Leonard Green (recurring guest star RON LEIBMAN - "Norma Rae"), that she is pregnant with Ross' baby. Dr. Green then confronts Ross in his apartment, just as Ross is beginning to snuggle up with his new girlfriend, Mona (recurring guest star BONNIE SOMERVILLE - "Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story"). Meanwhile, Monica feels guilty for denying Chandler a real bachelor party, so she arranges to have a stripper perform at a belated party for him and his friends. In this Thanksgiving episode, special guest star BRAD PITT plays Will, Monica's high school friend who was the only student fatter than Monica was. Chandler becomes upset when Monica spends a fortune on a luxurious pair of black boots. After she discovers that the sexy new shoes hurt her feet, Monica continues to wear them, rather than admitting that Chandler was right to be concerned. Meanwhile, celebrity-obsessed Phoebe learns that Ross' son, Ben (recurring guest star COLE MITCHELL SPROUSE), attends the same school as the son of rock star Sting. She tries to meet Sting and get tickets to his upcoming concert--until she encounters his suspicious wife, TRUDIE STYLER (herself). When Rachel starts feeling the hormonal effects of her pregnancy, she desperately searches for possible romantic partners--including the always accommodating Joey. Meanwhile, newlyweds Chandler and Monica must deal with Chandler's boss, who is enduring a divorce.

In order to prepare Joey for his big date the following night, Rachel eagerly agrees to accompany him for an evening out. However, when they become pleasantly surprised by their newfound compatibility, they begin to regard each other in a way no one could have predicted. Meanwhile, Chandler proudly scores a record number of points on Monica's new Ms. Pac-Man video game machine, but Phoebe vows to regain the top spot. Meanwhile, Chandler becomes nervous because Phoebe's handsome new boyfriend, Don (HARRY VAN GORKUM), shares numerous personality traits with Monica.

Feeling awkward after revealing his romantic feelings to Rachel, Joey avoids contact with her. Rachel hopes to restore their friendship by telling Joey a big lie about her unborn child. Meanwhile, after studying tea leaves, Phoebe believes she will encounter the man of her dreams--and she soon meets a very handsome guy, Parker (recurring guest star ALEC BALDWIN - "Pearl Harbor"). And Ross tries to recover his favorite pink shirt from the apartment of his former girlfriend, Mona (recurring guest star BONNIE SOMERVILLE).

Monica becomes inarticulate while giving her toast at a 35th wedding anniversary party for her parents, Jack (recurring guest star ELLIOTT GOULD) and Judy (recurring guest star CHRISTINA PICKLES), and regrets volunteering to make the speech instead of Ross. Now that he has returned to starring in the daytime drama "Days of Our Lives," Joey is thrilled when his name is used in a Soap Opera Digest crossword puzzle. However, he is reluctant to let the magazine do a profile of him, because his last interview got him into so much trouble that he was terminated from his previous engagement with the show. Eager to see her own name in print, Rachel persuades him to reconsider so he can mention her, but Joey insists that all of his friends be present at the interview to ensure that he doesn't say anything controversial this time. Rachel panics during a party in anticipation of her baby's birth when she realizes how totally unprepared she is to care for an infant. Meanwhile, Monica tries to atone for forgetting to invite Sandra to the party. Chandler and Ross exhaust themselves by repeatedly playing a befuddling game in an effort to help Joey prepare to audition as a television game show host.

Unfortunately, Chandler falls asleep during the screening, incurring Joey's wrath.

In the one-hour season finale, Rachel waits in the hospital maternity ward with the anxious Ross. However, numerous other pregnant women are wheeled in while Rachel's painful labor continues. Inspired to conceive a baby of their own, Chandler and Monica search for a private room in which to get romantic. While the women are away, Phoebe's boyfriend, Mike (recurring guest star PAUL RUDD), helps Ross baby-sit for Rachel's baby--and the guys desperately try to find something in common to talk about. Also, still working in Tulsa, Chandler returns to New York to visit Monica, but he must hide from Joey after rejecting his offer of free basketball tickets.

Chandler must remain in Tulsa during Christmastime because of a big deadline at work. Monica suspects the worst when she discovers that he will be joined by a beautiful co-worker, Wendy (SELMA BLAIR - "Legally Blonde"). Their immediate war of wills prompts Rachel to make a rash decision that she could regret. Meanwhile, Joey arranges for Phoebe to get a job as an extra on his daytime drama series, but she wreaks havoc on the set. And, having quit his job, Chandler must get another--fast--because Monica desperately wants a family.

Rachel is irritated to learn that her handsome new workplace rival, Gavin (recurring guest star DERMOT MULRONEY), has been invited to her birthday party. Meanwhile, Ross struggles to keep lascivious Joey away from Emma's beautiful new nanny, Molly (MELISSA GEORGE - "Thieves"). Also, Phoebe coaxes her boyfriend, Mike (recurring guest star PAUL RUDD), into helping her care for a litter of baby rats that were born in her cabinet.

While Rachel sorts out her conflicted feelings for her handsome co-worker Gavin (recurring guest star DERMOT MULRONEY), Ross recruits Chandler to help him meet attractive women in order to make Rachel jealous. Meanwhile, Phoebe regrets bringing Monica to karaoke night when Monica takes the microphone and delights in the applause--unaware that the guys in the audience are cheering because they can see through her dress. And Joey submits to painful eyebrow waxing before a photography session. Recurring guest star MELISSA GEORGE appears as Molly.

Joey and Phoebe conspire to arrange awful dates for both Rachel and Ross, hoping that appreciation of their former relationship will cause them to reunite. Rachel's date is a pitiful former restaurant owner, Steve (recurring guest star JON LOVITZ - "Saturday Night Live"). Meanwhile, the ovulating Monica wants to get intimate with Chandler while they baby-sit Emma--but they can't leave the infant alone, or she will scream.

Joey develops an unusual acting method in order to impress a famous, pompous fellow actor, Leonard (JEFF GOLDBLUM - "Jurassic Park"), during an audition for an important stage role. Meanwhile, Ross is horrified to discover who mugged him when he was a child. And an unemployed and humbled Chandler accepts an internship at a shoe company, where the youthful interns make him feel extremely old.

Phoebe asks her boyfriend, Mike (recurring guest star PAUL RUDD), to move in with her, but coming so close to married life might cause trouble in their relationship. Meanwhile, since Monica and Chandler are financially unstable, she secretly asks Joey for a large loan. But when the unsuspecting Chandler also approaches his pal for some cash, Joey accidentally betrays Monica's confidence and tries to recover with an outrageous story. Also, Rachel's efforts to make the apartment safe for her baby make Joey crazy.

When Chandler jokingly posts an outrageous biography about Ross on Ross' college alumni Web site, Ross retaliates by finding Chandler's alumni site and doing the same about Chandler. An Internet war between the two friends ensues. Meanwhile, Monica gets extremely vigilant after weak-willed Phoebe asks for help in preventing her from contacting Mike (recurring guest star PAUL RUDD) after their relationship ends.

Hoping to win a huge jackpot, the friends pool their money and buy dozens of lottery tickets. However, they bicker over how to spend the fortune if they win, and Monica irritates everyone else by buying tickets just for her and Chandler. Exasperated, Phoebe takes the bowl of everyone's tickets and threatens to throw it off the balcony. The others reconcile, but a pigeon startles Phoebe, causing her to drop the bowl anyway. Meanwhile, Chandler excitedly awaits his company's decision about his future. And Ross calls Rachel "Mommy" in order to teach the word to Emma.

Nervous because his daytime drama role requires him to act as if he is deeply in love with a woman, Joey rehearses with Rachel. Later, she observes the taping of the emotional scene and has a surprising dream that night about Joey. Meanwhile, Chandler makes a nonrefundable reservation at a Vermont country inn to surprise Monica. Unfortunately, she is too busy with her job, so Ross accompanies Chandler to the romantic hideaway. Also, Monica must find a tactful way to ask Phoebe to stop performing her disturbing folk music in front of Monica's restaurant.

Ross is excited when he meets fellow paleontology professor Charlie Wheeler (recurring guest star AISHA TYLER - "Talk Soup"), a stunning beauty. But when he takes her to Joey's rooftop party to meet the stars of Joey's daytimedrama, "Days of Our Lives" (real-life "Days of Our Lives" stars KYLE LOWDER, MATTHEW ASHFORD, FARAH FATH and ALEXIS THORPE as themselves), she intimidates him with her impressive list of former boyfriends. Meanwhile, Rachel and the intoxicated Monica behave foolishly at the gathering, chasing the handsome actors. And Chandler attends a disturbing one-woman play.

Ross is in agony because brilliant, beautiful professor Charlie (recurring guest star AISHA TYLER)--who usually prefers paleontologists--is instead dating shallow Joey. Nevertheless, Ross helps the desperate Joey pretend to be intelligent to impress Charlie--with mixed results. Meanwhile, Chandler and Monica's nervous visit to a fertility clinic is made even more uncomfortable by the unexpected appearance of Chandler's annoying ex-girlfriend, Janice (recurring guest star MAGGIE WHEELER). And Rachel argues with Phoebe over a corporate-owned spa chain that Phoebe detests.

Disappointed to learn that they cannot conceive a baby naturally, Monica and Chandler mull their options. When Chandler brings home a handsome, unknowing co-worker, Zack (JOHN STAMOS - "Full House," "Thieves"), for dinner, Monica and Chandler embarrassingly "interview" him as a potential sperm donor. Meanwhile, while shopping with Phoebe, Rachel confides that she is enamored with Joey. Unfortunately, Joey's current girlfriend, Charlie (recurring guest star AISHA TYLER), overhears. And Phoebe encounters a boyfriend, David (recurring guest star HANK AZARIA), from long ago.

In Part I, when Chandler accidentally erases the only version of Ross' speech from his laptop computer, Charlie must help Ross reconstruct it--and in the process, they discover that they have much more in common than their profession. Meanwhile, Joey and Rachel get drunk together after impersonating pharmacists and infiltrating a medical conference for the free drinks. And Phoebe is shocked when Mike unexpectedly travels to the island to talk to her. In Part II, despite the fact that it is the first sunny day since their arrival, everyone attends Ross' speech, which is enthusiastically received by his doring fellow scientists. Later, Monica and Mike (recurring guest star PAUL RUDD) take part in an extremely competitive, marathon ping-pong match, alarming Chandler but arousing Phoebe. Still in Barbados after Ross' keynote address, the friends cope with a variety of dilemmas. Ross has kissed his colleague Charlie Wheeler, although she is still officially dating Joey. Joey and Rachel have kissed as well, but they agonize over how to tell Ross. Phoebe's former boyfriend, Mike, has followed Phoebe to the island and proposed marriage to her, despite his being in a relationship with someone else. And Monica has developed really big hair, due to the humidity. Chandler's problem is that he can barely restrain himself from making fun of his wife. Phoebe, Monica and Chandler learn about all the romantic drama by listening through the thin hotel room walls to hear Joey and Rachel's amorous conversation on one side and Ross and Charlie's on the other. Feeling as if he is betraying Joey, Ross seeks him out to confess that he wants to date Charlie.

Rachel, Joey and Charlie (recurring guest star AISHA TYLER) attend an uncomfortable dinner party at Ross' apartment, but they fear for his state of mind when Ross uncharacteristically overindulges in wine, song and laughter. Meanwhile, Chandler commits an unpardonable act when he and Monica visit a couple who have adopted a cute boy. And former surrogate mother Phoebe is visited by her brother, Frank Jr. (recurring guest star GIOVANNI RIBISI - "Saving Private Ryan"), who is desperate because he can no longer cope with his precocious triplets.

Suave Joey is as confident as usual while preparing to make love with Rachel for the first time. But he soon becomes uncharacteristically clumsy, and Rachel feels uneasy as well. They wonder how Chandler and Monica transitioned from friends to lovers so easily. Meanwhile, Monica and Phoebe's annoying friend Amanda (JENNIFER COOLIDGE - "Best in Show") visits, causing a rift between the women. And Ross goes to a spray-on tanning salon but fails to follow the simple directions properly.

On Emma's first birthday, Rachel convinces Monica and Chandler to delay their long-anticipated trip to Vermont to stay for the party. But complications ensue when the infant falls asleep--and a racy, adult birthday cake arrives. Meanwhile, when Ross dashes out to help Rachel, he leaves Joey in charge of keeping everybody locked in the apartment until they return with the right cake.

Rachel feels like her annoying, self-indulgent younger sister, Amy (recurring guest star CHRISTINA APPLEGATE, who won an Emmy Award for her previous "Friends" guest appearance), is finally on the verge of making a major change in her attitude. In order to help Amy become a more responsible person, Rachel overrides Ross' strong protests and allows Amy to baby-sit Emma. She soon regrets that decision. Meanwhile, Phoebe unknowingly thwarts Mike's (recurring guest star PAUL RUDD) "anniversary" surprise for her. Also, Monica and Chandler become concerned when Joey tries to use big words in a recommendation letter on their behalf to a child adoption agency.

Oscar nominee GREG KINNEAR - "As Good As It Gets," "Talk Soup"), for an esteemed paleontology grant. Unfortunately, Hobart also happens to be Charlie's (recurring guest star AISHA TYLER - "Talk Soup") obsessed ex-boyfriend. Hobart offers the grant to Ross on the condition that he break up with Charlie. Meanwhile, Phoebe tries to give a hideous painting she created to an extremely reluctant Monica and Rachel. Also, Joey is offended when Chandler lies about viewing Joey's bizarre audition tape reel.

Monica and Chandler nervously prepare for a visit from an adoption worker, Laura (MARIA PITILLO), who will decide if they would be suitable parents. Unfortunately, Laura horrifies the uptight couple when she confesses that she was once romanced by a cad named Joey, who lives in the same building and never returned her calls. Meanwhile, Phoebe and Mike (recurring guest star PAUL RUDD) opt to have a small wedding and donate the extra money to a children's charity--only to demand it all back later. And Ross tries to help Rachel overcome her irrational fear of swing sets so baby Emma can enjoy herself at the playground.

Monica prepares a fabulous Thanksgiving feast for the gang, but she becomes furious when everyone arrives late to the gathering. Ross and Joey tried to go to a hockey game first, and Phoebe and Rachel secretly took Emma to a baby beauty contest. Bigger problems ensue when Monica refuses to let the famished guests into her and Chandler's apartment.

Nervous and excited, Monica and Chandler travel to Texas to meet a young pregnant woman, Erica Simmons (recurring guest star ANNA FARIS - "Scary Movie" films), who is considering allowing them to adopt her child when it's born. Monica and Chandler like Erica, and she likes them. The only problem is that, due to a mix-up at the adoption agency, Erica thinks Monica is a reverend and Chandler is a doctor--and the eager couple hesitates to correct her. Meanwhile, Joey dates Phoebe's friend but annoys her with his territorial eating habits. And after succumbing to a sexy and persuasive salesgirl, Ross ends up in a unique new wardrobe. When Phoebe and Rachel see Chandler getting into a car with a pretty woman during work hours, they follow him to the suburbs and witness him going inside a large house with the woman. Fearing that Chandler is cheating on Monica, they inform her--and learn that the woman is a real estate agent. The pair has been secretly shopping for houses and struggling with how to tell their best friends that they are leaving the City. In an emotional montage, clips from previous episodes highlight many of the experiences the friends have shared in Monica and Chandler's apartment.

Joey appears as a celebrity contestant on "The $100,000 Pyramid," with its actual host, DONNY OSMOND (himself), but Joey's dubious IQ costs his partner the prize money. Meanwhile, Monica and Rachel hire an ungainly stripper, Roy (DANNY DeVITO - "Taxi"), without seeing him first, for Phoebe's bachelorette party. Also, Chandler and Ross attend a college reunion and meet an attractive woman they both promised not to date during school.

In a special milestone episode, Phoebe's wedding planner, Monica, makes everyone around her crazy--until Phoebe fires her. Phoebe's big day becomes disastrous as deliveries go awry and a blizzard forces the plans to change. Meanwhile, as a substitute for Phoebe's incarcerated father in the ceremony, Joey takes his role much too seriously. Also, Chandler and Ross lobby Rachel to choose one of them as a last-minute replacement for a groomsman in what promises to be a most unorthodox wedding procession.

Monica and Chandler show Erica (recurring guest star ANNA FARIS - "Scary Movie 3"), who is the mother of the unborn baby they want to adopt, the sights of New York, and they also learn more facts about her--such as the baby's biological father might be a convict who killed his father with a shovel. Meanwhile, Ross and Rachel grow closer after her sarcastic father, Dr. Green (recurring guest star RON LEIBMAN - "Norma Rae"), suffers a heart attack. And Joey implores Francophile Phoebe to teach him French before an important audition, but she quickly becomes exasperated with the gibberish coming out of Joey's mouth.

Rachel nearly gags on her meal when she secretly meets at a restaurant for a job interview and sits right next to the table where her current boss is dining. Phoebe considers legally changing her married name to something more exotic. Meanwhile, Joey feels abandoned when Monica and Chandler try to buy a house, but Joey finds solace with the sellers' precocious 8-year-old daughter, Mackenzie (DAKOTA FANNING - "The Cat in the Hat").

When Rachel makes a startling announcement, Ross secretly schemes to get her former job back for her. Meanwhile, Joey is so flustered by all of the upheaval in his friends' lives that Phoebe prevents him from learning about the sudden death of his agent. And Monica and Chandler check out the house for sale next door to their new home--and make a stunning discovery.

As Rachel prepares to leave for Paris, the gang hosts a farewell party for her. Instead of facing them all together, she takes each person aside to offer a private good-bye. But one friend is offended when he is excluded. Meanwhile, Monica barks out strict orders as she precisely packs for her new life in the suburbs with Chandler, and they keep a watchful eye on the extremely pregnant mother, Erica (recurring guest star ANNA FARIS), of their future adopted child. Also, while cleaning the apartment, Chandler finds a surprising item that belonged to one of the previous occupants of his and Monica's guest room.

Filled with humor and bittersweet emotion, the series finale of "Friends" finds Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Joey, Chandler and Ross embarking on the next chapters in their lives. The six of them have been there for one another through all the ups and downs of becoming adults. Now it's their last day together, and it's one of momentous events and last-minute surprises. Even as the friends make major decisions about their futures, they share a bond that will last forever--no matter where their paths lead.
