Game of Thrones is arguably the best TV series ever made. Every character is skillfully crafted within a fantasy world full of epicly rich production values. Committing to an 8 year series can be challenging. The only challenge for me was to restrain myself from watching every episode again an again to such an extent that I'd do nothing else. Each episode contains so much that they rivaled and frequently surpassed movies with mega budgets. The story is masterfully adapted from the book series and all deviations from the R R Martin series, were seamless and often better. The series title is an apt description of competition for the position of king or queen of a continent called Westeros. There are many who will do unthinkable acts to win the Iron Throne. No epic is complete without a sweeping timeline going back over 10,000 years. There be dragons, magic and a protagonist who provides more than a figurehead. The Night King was created by a magical race known as the 'Children of the Forest; a mistaken attempt to save themselves and their sacred trees from extinction by an invasion of men. The Night King can reanimate the dead who have nothing to do with zombies. Watch this ...

Whilst sex and violence can be fun used sparingly. The ridiculous story line, increasingly bizarre plot twists and brutal, amoral characters make the GoT franchise immensely tedious. Reading the books does not make this pile of drivel any more interesting, it simply highlights that George R.R. Martin is more of a screenwriter than a novelist and that he has a particularly twisted view of humanity. On top of this GoT is essentially a rewrite of the Lord of the Rings but without any joy or lightness. There are no characters that you want to route for because they are all so flawed and self interested. Each episode makes you wonder how much more cruelty you will need to endure in the next, ultimately leaving you feeling sort of hollow and empty like a White Walker.

Wish I could say otherwise...but refuse to pay for paid TV for only one show AND REFUSE TO WATCH IT ILLEGALLY DOWNLOADED so after being refunded by youtube for the whole season 6 because a few seconds into the credits my HD version of the show loses sound...I decided to try individual downloads on season 4 once HD which had the same problem and then again on SD only to find the same problem...I don't care for a refund anymore, I can not believe that in this day and age it can be so difficult to PAY for a TV show on GOOGLE AND YOUTUBE only to find it impossible to watch it. You should at least be able to download from the computer into a drive to plug into a TV, then they complain about piracy. HBO, GAME OF THRONES, GOOGLE AND YOUTUBE YOU NEED TO GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.
