Danioni worms his way into the Ainsworths’ affairs, helping Cecil arrange for a family heirloom to be sent from England, while turning the screw on Bella with his blackmail threats, and setting loose his Fascist thugs.

Bella finally stands up to Signor Danioni, who hands over compromising correspondence to her husband, but before Cecil can confront her, the Ainsworth family heirloom goes missing and there is uproar at the hotel.

As the police search for the missing heirloom, guests and employees come under suspicion. Count Albani tries to help Bella resolve her difficulties with Danioni. Cecil confronts Bella over the compromising letter.

As the mystery of the missing heirloom is resolved, proposals and critical decisions are made, and Cecil attempts a reconciliation with Bella.
