I Want My Wife Back

Murray has arranged a surprise 40th birthday party that evening for his beloved wife Bex. All their friends and family will be there and he’s trying to make the final arrangements, but someone blurts out that Bex is leaving him. In the wake of this news, Murray tries to cancel the party but it’s too late, as friends and family congregate in their house to surprise her. Bex and Murray don’t manage to get any time alone to discuss what has happened, but the situation goes from bad to worse with an awkwardly timed gift…

Bex tries to avoid her parents after deciding not to go through with the trip to Turkey. Don takes the news of the split badly and starts to act out-of-character, so Paula asks Murray to look after him. Bex decides to join a book club to take her mind off the split, but all these women want to talk about is why they left their ex-husbands.

Murray and Bex decide to give each other space to think about the future of their relationship. However, things make a turn for the worse when Murray has to sit in on a charity event chaired by Bex. Murray is forced to concede that he is unable to provide a donation or the special guest he promised, Joanna Lumley. As the grand prize of the event was to be a date with Joanna, Bex stands in as a last minute replacement, much to Murray’s horror.

Murray has finally managed to persuade Bex to dine at the restaurant where he originally proposed to her, as he plans a romantic re-proposal. After a few problems, which includes his friend Grant losing the ring and the winner of the charity dinner date with Bex dinning at the restaurant, things finally seem to be going to plan. As Bex and Murray begin to work out their issues, Bex is offered a job in Birmingham and Grant starts a fight, so with nothing left to lose Murray re-proposes…

Bex is in the process of moving into her sisters when Murray tells her he has decided to leave his job. Bex’s response is far from positive and a disappointed Murray ends up going for a drink with his co-worker Emma. When Murray wakes up hungover the next morning, he finds himself with no memory of the evening and in Emma’s bed. When Murray and Bex have couples counselling later that evening, Bex mentions that she knows he was out with Emma…

Murray drops one of Bex’s dresses round to her sister Keeley’s flat, for her to wear at her parents anniversary and finds a positive pregnancy test. While Murray is under the impression that Bex is pregnant, Keeley reveals to Bex that she is pregnant and needs help. At the anniversary party Murray inadvertently announces the pregnancy to her family, which causes the truth to be revealed, and Murray makes a final attempt to stop her from leaving.
