We'll see how the show plays out in the future, but going off of the first episode this show is *really, really good.* The lead is tough, witty and good with mind games, the supporting characters pique a bit of interest, and I can't emphasize enough how good Underwood's acting is here. The plot is standard police procedural fair, nothing special, but it doesn't verge into goofy CSI territory, which is a plus. I only knock off one star for a few lines of forced exposition among an otherwise polished script.

A part of my childhood that for once a reboot doesn't destroy. This was the story of a man that fought back against personal and societal limitations and prejudices to be a vital person of value to himself and society. I'm not sure in the script anyone ever defined the race of Ironsides other then the casting director that allowed (as most did in those days) the prejudices of a racist white society to limit racial casting. One would like to think that white America has gotten better about racism.Sadly not.
