Charming and single Joey Tribbiani (series star MATT LeBLANC) embarks on his own and moves from New York City to Hollywood, hoping to truly make it as an actor. Joey says good-bye to a time when his friends were his family and welcomes the chance to turn his family into his friends. After accidentally ending up in Dallas instead of taking a connecting flight to California, Joey finally arrives in Los Angeles and reunites with his high-strung older sister Gina (series star DREA de MATTEO), a strong and sexy hairdresser. While Gina shows Joey the apartment she arranged for him, her genius 20-year-old son, graduate student Michael (series star PAULO COSTANZO), who literally is a rocket scientist, arrives. Although Joey lacks book smarts, he more than compensates with his people skills, making him the best new friend his nephew could ask for.

Michael moves into Joey's apartment to seek independence from his mother, Gina. Joey decides to take his nephew out to teach him how to meet women. Meanwhile, Michael and Joey learn that all is not as it seems with their attractive neighbor, Alex.

Since moving from New York City to Hollywood, Joey has found it difficult to meet new friends. Gina suggests that Joey and Michael host a party in their apartment and invite all of the residents from their building. Michael asks his competitive college friend Seth (recurring guest star SIMON HELBERG - "A Cinderella Story") to attend the party, thinking that he'll refuse--but Michael panics when Seth announces he will be bringing his girlfriend, and now Michael must conjure up a date of his own.

After auditioning for several plays, Joey is disappointed when he receives only the understudy roles. But when the lead actors in different plays get sick, he must figure out how he can be in several places at once. Meanwhile, Michael and Joey find out that an apartment is for rent in their complex, and they quickly try to hide the rent sign to prevent Gina from wanting to move in. Former "Friends" series star DAVID SCHWIMMER directed the episode.
6 Joey and the Nemesis

Joey meets his acting nemesis, Brian Michael David Scott (recurring guest star BOB ODENKIRK -"Mr. Show," "The Larry Sanders Show"), who relentlessly makes a fool out of Joey at auditions. At home, overbearing Gina finds out that Michael is sick and becomes excited that she will get to take care of her son--much to his dismay. During Michael's illness, Joey stays at Gina's house and inadvertently meets her boyfriend.

Gina struggles with nepotism at the salon when her boss hires his untalented daughter to take many of Gina's regular clients. After hearing how unhappy Gina is at work, Joey and Michael plan to help her open a salon. Unfortunately, instead of auditioning for the young, attractive male lead character, Joey is surprised to be asked to read for the father of a rebellious teenage girl. Gina must help her brother overcome the awkwardness of auditioning with a very sexy young woman who might play his daughter in the show.

When a celebrity judge for a Las Vegas beauty pageant suddenly cancels, Joey is asked to replace him. Gina and Alex want to take a road trip with Joey, and the two women kidnap Michael from school and force him to join them as well. While at the casino, Michael reluctantly uses his math skills to teach Gina how to play blackjack using his math skills.

I love this show just as much as I enjoyed Mad About You and Friends. A Great connection for a TV Universe.
