Connie and Mellors finally act on their mutual attraction, while Mrs. Bolton spends more time nursing Clifford. Clifford visits the mine, determined to break the miners’ strike by force.

Connie receives an invitation to stay in Mandalay for the rest of the summer, causing tension between her and Mellors. Connie and Clifford spar over the relationship between the aristocracy and the working class.

4 Part Four

While on holiday in Mandalay, Connie receives news that Mellors’s wife has returned. Connie returns home early, just as Mellors hands in his notice. Connie must make an important decision about her future.
